'The Reason I Live'

This album contains a collection of some of my favourite songs which have stood the test of time and will transport the listener into the presence of God. After seeing how in many cases music has been exploited in the church, I questioned my relevance as a singer; was there any value in it? During my youth, limited fame had given me the recognition and acceptance I craved. I used church platforms as a shop window to display my gifts and talents. But what place has pride or success in the Kingdom of God? Absolutely none! God told me He loved me more than my ministry, and so removed me from my elevated position when pride reared its ugly head. Thankfully 3 years later I was asked to do a concert. I had dramatically changed. I no longer sang to entertain or show off my talents. God had done a deep work in me. As I sang my first song I saw in a vision God shining His spotlight on me. The audience completely disappeared and all I could see was God. I realised then that He wanted me to sing, not FOR him but TO him, and from that day I have come to know that He gave me my voice because He likes to hear it, as ... the reason I live is to love and worship Him.      Joanna Barratt
